Anthropologie DIY Necklace

Oh Pintrest-I love you so much. So I was on there the other day and I found this link with this amazing necklace tutorial. I decided I could easily make this so I went to the store to get my supplies. I found everything I needed at Michaels, except for the glass bead pendants. I went to Michaels, Ben Franklin, online and couldn’t find them anywhere (well I did find them online for $8/bead which at that point I might as well pay the $200 for the necklace from Anthroplogie). Luckily I went to Hobby Lobby and found them there! The second I got home I pulled everything out and started painting my beads while Jace watched a movie. I did probably 2-3 coats of paint and then just used clear nail polish for my protective, clear coat. In the link’s tutorial it shows her pulling apart the jump rings, I found it was easiest to kinda twist them apart then slide the pendant on and twist it back together, keeps the circle shape the best. All in all it took me a couple hours with the painting and everything but I think it turned out way cute. I’m wanting to make more colors!
I was so proud of my completed necklace!

Infiniti Scarf

So my little sister’s birthday is this coming Tuesday on April 3rd. She will be 16 (good luck mom and dad!) I was trying to think of something to get her for her birthday when I came across this blog on Pintrest. When I lived at home, Paige was always stealing my scarves and so I thought this would be perfect to make for her especially since I had an old pair of plaid PJ’s. They were a little torn up but I couldn’t get rid of them since I loved them so much but this would be perfect to use them for. I had to improvise a little since as I said, the legs were a little beaten up and shredded so I couldn’t use both pant legs in their fullest. I ended up making it work out though and I think it turned out pretty cute! Then I also picked her up a pair of earrings a picture frame to put up in her room. Happy Birthday Paige! :)

After-I'm sure it will look much cutier on Paige!

Start of new project/Weekend Update

So the weekend went by too quickly again but we got a lot done. Thursday night I happened to run over to Marshalls and saw they had all their winter stuff on sale. I brought Jace back with me and we were able to get him some great stuff for cheap; 3 pairs of jeans, a couple of different zip up hoodies, some thermals for work and a few shirts. I even got myself a pair of new leopard print flats J Friday we went to dinner at Chili’s (because I had a free appetizer coupon) gotta love that!  So after dinner we ran a couple of errands and went home for Jace to work on his talk he had to give on Sunday. Saturday morning we got up early and cleaned the house, garage, cars and Jace worked on the RZR. Jace also changed my oil and replaced the burnt out rear light in my car. Love being married to someone who can take care of everything for me! Later Saturday night we went over to watch the UFC fights at my brother in law Jakes. Then we went home and Jace finished up his talk. Sunday morning we had church and Jace did amazing on his talk even though he was very nervous. Neither Jace nor I are big speakers, I’m much better at writing-I like having the time to review and edit what you’re going to say before it comes out of your mouth. Then we went home and relaxed while I started on my project that I’ve been wanting to do (mentioned in this post). I’m not very far along but it’s going well so far. Just cutting all the strips to sew together. It took a little while to figure out all my measurements since I am wanting this to go on my king bed and the directions on the blog are for a queen. Later Sunday evening we went over to my mother in laws for Sunday dinner and just hung out with Jace’s family. Then of course we went home and watched Kourtney and Kim Take New York (I love the Kardashians-I’m not ashamed to admit it!) It was the season finale so I had to watch it. I’m sad the weekend went so quickly but I’m glad we got so much done and I’m excited for everything we have coming up this next weekend.
Me working on my project-I love that this looks like a Wendy's commerical with the TV in the background...

Sewing Project

So for Christmas I got a sewing machine. Jace has a few pair of pants that needed some repairs so he forced me to pull everything out and figure out how everything works. They are just work pants (he just wears grungy clothes to work since they get ruined anyways). I had to patch a hole in the back along with a side hem on a leg pant. I was impressed with myself that I didn’t hurt myself and everything turned out decent. Jace was happy too because he now has 2 more pairs of pants to wear to work during the week! Now I need to move onto some more adventurous projects I’m wanting to try this (in deep red for my master bed)but I’m scared to attempt!
The final result (when they are on Jace you can't even tell!)

Wreath

I was browsing Pintrest that other day and found this blog with this wreath and so I went and picked up supplies to make myself one. It was pretty easy just a little time consuming to cut out all the squares.

Here are my supplies:
Burlap (I used cream and brown)
Pins with large heads
Wreath (I used a straw one)

(Cant get it to turn the right way)

I think it turned out how it was supposed to and it looks good on the inside of my front door. The only thing is I wish I had thought of the cream on my white door. I may end up putting it on the outside of my front door eventually.

Backsplash

Ok so this last weekend was a little crazy and I’m just now getting around to writing about it. If you read my last post you know that my dad had a heart attack and is ok now, but since my mom and dad were down in Vegas dealing with that, Jace and I had my siblings Paige and Ridge for the weekend until they got home Tuesday night. We had also decided we wanted to get backsplash up so we were in the middle of that project with them there.
My parents left for Vegas Thursday for a work thing so I had Paige and Ridge over Thursday night for some Crispy Cheddar Chicken that I found on this blog it was pretty easy and everyone really liked it. I served it with some rice and then just easy Pillsbury biscuits. Then Kami, Dillan’s girlfriend took them to my parents house since she was staying with them until Saturday.
Then Friday night Jace and I met up with Paige, Ridge, Kami and her sister Taylor at Panda Express. After Panda Jace and I went to Lowes to get backsplash supplies. On the way home is when I got the call that my dad was in the hospital. Kami stayed with the kids over night since I called to check on them Friday and they wanted to stay there for the night so they didn’t come over until Saturday evening after hanging out with friends. So Saturday we started the backsplash. We previously had a small granite slab as a backsplash that we weren’t crazy about so we first had to rip that off then started the process of putting up the new backsplash. (On a side note-I went to Smiths first and bought gift cards to Lowes so I could get the gas points!) We got 90% of the backsplash up by Sunday and just now have the grout left to do.  This week’s been so crazy so we haven’t gotten to it but will hopefully finish it up Saturday since everyone is coming into town next week for Thanksgiving.
The kitchen ready to go...
Jace hard at work, I like how concentrated he is on the backsplash
Progress!

Over the weekend Jace also decided to start building and put up some much needed shelving in the garage. He stepped off the ladder and twisted his ankle pretty bad on a 2X4. His ankle swelled up pretty bad but he said its starting to feel better (he wouldn’t go to the doctor of course).
See how swollen the right ankle is

Over the weekend I did make some “Gratitude Journals” for my visiting teachers. I figured since its Thanksgiving it’s a good time to try and write down once a day, one thing we are thankful for. I did this a few years ago and made myself write down every night for a year one thing I was thankful for (November shouldn’t be the only month we remember what we are thankful for). I’m wanting to start up another one now and these turned out so cute I need to make one for myself! They were super easy. Just need some glue, ribbion, cute scrap booking paper and a journal.

Other than that not much going on for us. Just busy with work and trying to get everything ready for the holidays. I will be sure to post pictures once the backsplash is all done with grout and everything. I’m pretty excited since it makes such a drastic difference in the kitchen!
